Designing A Face Mask That Fits

Do you need to wear a face mask for hours?

Do ear loops bother you?

Do you wear glasses or hearing aids?

Do you want more control over how your face mask fits?

These are the problems I was thinking about when I designed our adjustable and reversible face masks.

The final design is:

  • Adjustable
  • Reversible
  • Three layers of cotton fabrics
  • Has a filter pocket
  • Has a nose wire
  • Headband can be replaced
  • Can be changed to ear loops
  • Two sizes available
  • Can be layered over an N95 mask
Our reversible face mask style has an adjustable headband and many people find it comfortable to wear when working or exercising

This face mask has a lanyard style headband that adjusts, and many people find it comfortable to wear while moving around or working.

Suitable for Hay Hauling and More

I don't want my mask to slip when I'm moving around. I want a snug fit, never painfully tight, but certainly tight all around the top because this will help to keep my glasses from fogging. We have found that this adjustable headband mask fits this need. We make them with a decorative ribbon, but if you want a fit that is flexible and snug at the same time, select the elastic headband instead.

Elastic Headband Option

She's training mini ponies to pull carts, so I knew that she would want a mask that stays put yet is comfortable, so I sent her a mask with an elastic headband rather than the decorative ribbon.

This face mask is shaped to fit the face closely. We used an adjustable elastic headband because we knew the horse trainer who would be wearing it would want a comfortable but secure fit.

See how the mask fits?

This is the same mask on the horse trainer you saw above (the pony is back in the paddock now, eating hay). The behind the head straps are made of 1/4" black elastic with a bead to adjust the tension, and she's wearing a size Medium.

What If I Want Ear Loops?

I designed this mask so that the headband can be changed, so if you want to turn the head band into ear loops you can. If you want me to make ear loops let me know when you order and I'll do the work for you. Here is a blog post showing how I made ear loops using stretchy fabric I cut from an old t-shirt.

This Mask Works as a N95 Cover

Many of our face masks will fit over a N95 and can be used as a decorative washable covering, or on their own. Shown is our size medium Reversible Face Mask with Adjustable Head Strap made of the decorative ribbon. I could put ear loops on this mask and still use it to cover the N95.
